We have been learning about the Windrush Generation by talking to family members, reading books, looking at maps, listening to music & playing dominoes. We learnt that we have families from Jamaica, Barbados, Guyana, The Bahamas and Cuba. We also ate bun and cheese at snack.
We enjoyed reading ‘Coming to England’ by @FloellaBenjamin and then watched @DavidOlusoga read it on CBeebies. “The boy in the red t-shirt looks like me” “My dad buys mangoes” “I have a suitcase. I put clothes in it” “My mum said when we get a big house I can have my own bed”
We made our own drums, added tin cans to make steel drums and played along to steel band music. We looked at books & talked about familiar food that is eaten at home. “I like hard dough bread. And healthy fruits” “My mummy cook dumplings” “I like pineapple “I eat plantain”
