The children had a wonderful experience visiting the rescue hens at Glengall Wharf Garden. They fed the hens cooked rice and watermelon. They learnt how to hold a hen safely. They saw hens lay eggs and held them whilst they were still warm. They even helped to write the date the eggs were laid on.
“She laid a big egg” “I eat eggs” “The chicken is running away from me” “This chicken is a heavy one” “There’s another chicken in here. She’s gonna lay an egg” “Is there an egg inside?” “The egg is so warm” “Look. Two chickens” “They ate all the water melon” “The rice is on the chickens beak”
