The chn have been learning about Lunar New Year this week. One of our lovely parents came in to nursery to talk with them about how their family celebrates. We learnt so much by chatting & exploring the resources brought in and that in Vietnamese, people say ‘Tet’ to wish each other Happy New Year.
We learnt lots of things about LNY: * don’t take rubbish out or cut your hair on New Year’s Day * decorate your front door w red decorations * have fresh flowers at home * ppl set off fireworks at midnight * you visit family * businesses have a waving gold cat in their window to welcome in luck
The chn thought about what they would buy with their money: “I buy a unicorn” “I buy sweeties” “I buy a horse” “I buy shoes” There was lots of conversation. “I like noodles” “It’s chopsticks” “I got duckie chopsticks at my house” “I saw grandma at Christmas” “I got grandma. Two” “Cousins”
