We are reading “Baby Goes to Market”. One of our parents showed the children how mothers use a ‘wrapper’ to carry their baby when doing errands in the Nigerian village she grew up in. We saw a real baby in a wrapper. Then the children tried carrying a doll just like Mama.
To round the day off we all got together to learn a Jamaican folk song called Guh Dung a Manuel Road that one of our parents sang with their cousins as a child. In Jamaica you pass rocks around the circle, trying not to hurt your fingers as the song gets faster!
