One of our parents came in to nursery to tell the children about Somalia, the country she was born in. We learned that Somalia is usually a dry country. When she was little she would sing a song to make the rain fall. When it rained people danced in it!
We also tried some of her favourite fruits growing up in Somalia. “My mum is from The Netherlands” “My mummy go to Somalia” “I like pineapple” “Lemons are sour” “Watermelon is so juicy”
