The children thought about our core texts from this term & recorded which was their favourite. ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ got the most votes. “I like the hungry caterpillar best. It’s so funny” “I like butterflies” “I loved it so much” “I like the slice of cheese & the strawberries”
The children have really enjoyed exploring magnetic letters. They were interested in finding letters in their names. “Alphabet!” “Here’s a P” “Letter R. That’s my letter” “Here’s all my name” “I need a W for my name” “That’s the same letter as mine” “abcdefghijklmnop”
The children have loved reading ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’, with irresistible props bringing the story to life. They also found out fascinating facts about the butterfly life cycle using information books and searched for butterflies in the garden.
We ended this half-term with a family sing-a-long in our garden. The children sang songs connected to our core texts. They also learnt Makaton signs to accompany the songs. Everyone joined in, making it a happy occasion. Thank you to our families for supporting the children.
